Trader Joe’s Food Finds – June 2021

Trader Joe’s has been dropping new seasonal items like crazy as of late, and I am here for it!! It’s been so fun trying some of the items featured in the latest Fearless Flyer. It might be a personal goal of mine to try 100% of the items from a single Fearless Flyer one day. I don’t think it’ll happen this month, but maybe in the fall…who knows!

Before I get into all of my finds from the month of June, we have some unfinished business from my Trader Joe’s Food Finds – May 2021.

I’m sorry to report that we still have not gotten around to trying the Cajun Style Alfredo Sauce, but once we do, I’ll post an update in a future month. My fingers are crossed that it will be worth the wait! 🙂

Now, let’s move right along into my Trader Joe’s food finds from June!

We all know by now that I’m a sucker for a new ice cream. This Southern Peach Crisp Ice Cream ($2.99) flavor screamed summer to me. It had swirls of peach puree and crunchy oat bits that were supposed to be reminiscent of a cobbler. Honestly, this ice cream tasted NOTHING like peach. Gary and I both wondered where the flavor was! We both liked the texture of the crunchy bits, and the ice cream was good because it pretty much tasted like vanilla. Overall it was a slight disappointment, though, because we were really looking forward to the peach flavor! I don’t think I will be picking this up again.

Strawberry flavor, adorable pink packaging, and sugary carbs?? Count me in! These Strawberry & Vanilla Flavored Yogurt Pretzels ($2.99) were a fun little treat! The strawberry flavor was similar to that of the Strawberry Yogurt O’s I got in February. I also liked that they were small and that they came in a resealable bag…another perfect road trip snack, or a sweet addition to a summery charcuterie board!

I’m usually a big fan of gummy items at Trader Joe’s. I saw these adorable Tangy Turtles ($1.99) and knew I had to try them. They look like the cutest summer treat. Unfortunately, their merit stops with their looks. I didn’t think they tasted very good at all (and found it so weird that the bag didn’t list the flavors anywhere). Also, Gary’s tongue got all tingly and hot after eating them. What the heck?! We definitely will not be getting these again.

Speaking of Gary…these Tangerine Cream Bars ($2.99) had his name written all over them. He loves fruity frozen treats (even though he isn’t really a sweets person), so I got these just for him! I really thought they’d just taste like your average creamsicle, but the tangerine flavor was very fresh and strong. I think they’re pretty good for a frozen treat, and Gary thinks they’re delicious. I’m not sure if they’re only going to be around for the summer, so if you want to try them, definitely do so sooner rather than later!

Green Goddess items from Trader Joe’s have all been a hit in my eyes. I love the dip and the dressing, so I jumped at the opportunity to try Green Goddess Gouda ($7.99/lb). This gouda isn’t super aged, so it is on the softer side. The basil flavor is very prominent. I think it would make a unique addition to a cheese board, but I really feel like this cheese would be best melted. I’m definitely going to try melting it on a burger, and think macaroni and cheese with Green Goddess Gouda would be out of this world.

Every once in awhile, we like to have make-your-own pizza night as a fun little at home date night. Usually, we get the refrigerated pizza dough from Trader Joe’s, but sometimes it’s a bit too sticky to roll out. When I was in the frozen section this month, I figured it was worth it to see if there were any frozen crusts. Sure enough, I found these Organic Pizza Crusts ($3.29). They’re pre-shaped, so all you have to do is pull them out of the freezer, throw your favorite sauces, cheeses, and toppings, and bake them for ~10 minutes. We really enjoyed how our pizza came out using this crust. Two come in a pack, so we’re looking forward to making another one soon!

I love having items on hand to make a quick charcuterie board, and these Rosemary Sfogliette ($1.69) looked like they’d be a fun addition to one! I really like the hexagonal shape and the rosemary flavor. They’re definitely a unique cracker, but overall I thought it was a good find. Gary thought they were strange, so I just figured I’d throw that out for you to consider as well. I honestly ate most of them plain so they didn’t quite make it onto a charcuterie board this time around, but there’s always next time!

I raved about the dill flavored potato chips from Trader Joe’s last month, and this month they brought back one of our seasonal favorites for summer! Patio Potato Chips ($2.99) are the perfect side for sandwiches, burgers, or hotdogs. There are sea salt and vinegar, dill, ketchup, and BBQ flavored potato chips all inside one bag! The flavors all go really well together, and once you start eating them it’s pretty hard to stop. Pro tip: open this bag from the bottom. Lots of the seasoning settles to the bottom of the bag, so if you flip it around, you’ll get to eat the best chips first and give the extra seasonings a chance to trickle down again.

I saved our most life changing item from June for last. Dill Pickle Mustard ($1.69) is amazing. The flavor isn’t too overwhelming, but it tastes like a sauce that a restaurant would use. The dill flavor just adds a little something extra that I now apparently can’t live without. It’s great on sandwiches and burgers, but it really blew us away on hot dogs. I already went back to get another bottle to keep on hand in our pantry, because I believe it is seasonal. Boo!!

Alright, that’s all I have for this month! Have you tried any of these items and had similar or different thoughts? What fun items have you been trying lately? Let me know!

xoxo
