10 Years of Gary!

This week, Gary and I celebrated our 10 year dating anniversary!! To clarify: I brought it up, and Gary told me that it was no longer our anniversary since we have a wedding anniversary. He then proceeded to tell me that means we’ve been together for 3,650 days…this is what life is like being married to an accounting manager, friends! (PS – nobody burst his bubble and tell him that he forgot to take into account leap years) We’ve officially been together for more than a third of my life…because yes, I’m also going to rub it in his face that he’s 30 and I’m not quite there yet šŸ˜‰

Since this felt like a fun milestone…a whole decade of Gary…I decided to take a trip down memory lane. I went through my photo archives and pulled out a photo from each year that we’ve been together! Thank goodness Facebook is good for something, am I right?

2011

This is one of the first photos we ever took together (in a residence hall room at UCSB, no less) and we look like BABIES!

2012

I flew up north to visit Gary for New Year’s Eve for the first time in 2012. This was my first time seeing this much snow! It was on the ground and definitely not even falling from the sky, but I was thrilled to pieces.

2013

In 2013, Gary graduated from UCSB and the long distance chapter of our relationship began. This was such a bittersweet day for me!

2014

One year later we switched outfits for this photo by the UCSB lagoon šŸ™‚

2015

In 2015, I was in Iowa working on my Master’s degree. Gary came to visit me and we attended our first college football game together.

2016

During one of my favorite years of our relationship so far, Gary and I moved back to Santa Barbara and got our first (and only) apartment together.

2017

2018

In 2018, we #gotgarried, and I still daydream about the magic of that day all. the. time.

2019

Gary and I have taken some pretty fun trips together, but this one was particularly special. We finally left the country together and visited Butchart Gardens in Canada. Even though this photo isn’t great, this spot is one of my favorites in the world (that I’ve seen so far).

2020

I have a whole post about 2020: The One Where we Stayed Home for a Year. We truly did just that. Just the two of us, cozy at home, making the best out of an overall crappy year. There are worse places we could have been!

2021

Holy cow we made it through a decade together! We didn’t age at all, right? šŸ˜‰
This photo was taken just last week on a fun weekend getaway…more to come on that later!

Gary, you’re my favorite person in the whole world and I can’t wait to spend decade after decade by your side <3

xoxo
