I don’t know about you all, but I always love seeing what other people are eating. It helps inspire me to try new things, reminds me of hidden gems, or just prompts me to add items to our grocery list. And, since most of my camera roll tends to be food, I figured this would be a quick and easy thing to share with you all on a monthly-ish basis. Disclaimer: many of the food photos on my phone are recipes that are in the works, so you won’t truly get to see everything just yet, but some of these might just reappear as recipes later down the road!
One other thing — most of my photos for the month of March had to do with Garyโs 30 Days of 30!, so even though it doesn’t look like we ate much, we definitely did ๐
Remember the Breaded Fried Ravioli that were featured in my Trader Joe’s Food Finds from the month of February? Well, we ate some in March (of course on heart plates)!
During the week, we stick to easy breakfasts – cereal, toast, muffins, etc. But on the weekends, we like to live it up! I couldn’t believe how good my challah french toast turned out…I might just have to share the recipe for this one! ๐ Oh, and PS – if you aren’t using your leftover french toast batter to make sweet scrambled eggs at the end, you’re doing it wrong.
I’m not gonna lie, most of my food photos from this month are of takeout for some reason! Since the pandemic started, we’ve made an effort to support our local restaurants by ordering takeout on the weekends. We discovered a cute little sandwich place that is literally within walking distance of our apartment and love taking their yummy sandwiches on our park picnics.
Alright, right after I said that we like to support local businesses, I came across my next food photo…of Costco pizza. We wanted something quick, easy, and inexpensive, and since it was 3/14, pizza seemed like the perfect option. In retrospect, it was. #noregrets Also, this is very important…who else is beyond irritated that the Costco foodcourt no longer has combination pizzas? What the heck?!
Fun fact: we have a ridiculous amount of green onion in our garden. It really was getting out of hand, so I looked on Pinterest for “recipes that use green onion.” I came across scallion pancakes, and they sounded delicious, so we figured why not. Well, they were a lot harder to make than we thought, and the payoff wasn’t quite as high as we wanted. We were so hangry by the time one was ready to eat that it didn’t even make it to a plate. But here’s a fun photo of Gary taking over in the kitchen! (Seriously, the hanger was too real.)
I like to think that some foods are just meant for colder weather. Soups and crockpot meals tend to fall into that category for me, but so do homemade spaghetti and meatballs! I captured this photo right as I plopped my turkey meatballs into the sauce to simmer. YUM.
We tried a new recipe a couple of weeks ago, and it doesn’t really have a name, so I’m just going to refer to these as Mediterranean chicken bowls. They were SO good! It was definitely a change from what we typically eat, but I feel like this will definitely be in our dinner rotation in the spring and summer months. I might just have an offshoot of this recipe up my sleeve, too!
Ah, another takeout photo. For Gary’s birthday weekend, he chose to get Cajun Kitchen, which is a local restaurant that specializes in brunch foods. Gary’s go-to is this crazy monstrosity that has a biscuit, fried chicken, poached eggs, and gravy. It’s wild. I usually stick to an omelet that of course has to have avocado, and the most delicious hash browns ever!
Obviously, in the month of March, we also had Gary’s birthday dinner! Year after year, even though we’re constantly adding to our arsenal of recipes, he always chooses imitation crab pasta. Oh, and take note of the Parmesan Roasted Brussels Sprouts on his plate, too! ๐
Alright, those are all of our Peiffer Plates that I can currently share from the month of March! Maybe in one of the upcoming months, I’ll try to take a photo of at least one plate per day…that could be kind of fun! What have you all been eating lately? Are there any items listed above that you want to see a recipe for? Let me know in the comments below.
xoxo
