Valentine’s Day is one of my favorite holidays. I know, I know, it’s a Hallmark Holiday (fun fact: I used to work there), but I just can’t help myself. I love pink things, sweets, hearts, and flowers every day of the year, so I feel like everyone else gets on board with all of that for Valentine’s Day!
Before I show you some simple ways to make your space more festive for Valentine’s day, let me be honest for a hot second here. If you do not decorate for Valentine’s Day, that’s okay! I am in no way better than you, and you do not need to feel pressured to decorate just because a random person on the internet told you that they do.
And, in the name of full transparency, I even questioned whether or not my photos were worthy of posting because they don’t look “perfect” enough. It seems like there’s always something in the background, I don’t like the color of our counters or cabinets, and the list goes on. But guess what? This is real life! We live in a one-bedroom apartment, so it’s literally impossible for everything to be put away just right, and for my “aesthetic” to be completely cohesive. I’m just trying to make it work in the space that I have with the tools I have available to me.
Maybe you’re unimpressed by that, but I truly hope that this post inspires others in small spaces to consider how they can get simple, inexpensive, easy to store decor that brings a little seasonal happiness into their lives. So let’s take a look!

Garland is one of the easiest festive items to purchase and store, so it’s one of my go-to items for every holiday. I love this fun red and white fabric garland for Valentine’s Day. In previous years I’ve hung it on our breakfast bar, but I decided to switch things up and drape it on our large sliding glass door window this year. I also wove some fairy lights through it so when we’re out in the living room in the evening it adds a cozy little ambiance. We also discovered the most random thing…our TV remote turns on our battery operated fairy lights, and it never fails to surprise me!

These cute envelopes were actually part of Gary’s present from last year. I filled the envelopes with personalized coupons, so you can totally double dip with decorations like this!

Hi, my name is Jennifer and I have a mild obsession with seasonal spatulas. Honestly, I saw this concept on the internet a few years ago and thought that it was such a cute way to make your kitchen more festive for each season/holiday! I got my xoxo spatula from Target last year, but you can find them at most craft stores as well. Also, I should note that all of the other pink kitchen utensils are used year-round…they just look extra fun right now!

I like to swap out some of the decorations on these floating shelves depending on the season. In the fall, there’s usually a big sunflower, in the winter there’s a countdown to Chanukah, and in February, I like to put up the hearts! This was another great Target find from Bullseye’s Playground for only $3! If you have any spare frames lying around, you could also create your own spin on this idea by putting some festive scrapbook paper or gift wrap in a frame. So easy!

How cute are these plates?! They are my latest addition to my Valentine’s decorations and I am absolutely obsessed. Due to COVID, we won’t be going out to eat, so I wanted a little something to make a home-cooked meal more special. Functional decor is the best! And my table definitely isn’t complete this time of year without some fresh flowers from Trader Joe’s. Their prices just can’t be beat, and their selection is great!
In my fantasy world where I have endless space for extra linens, I’d love to throw some cute heart dishtowels into the mix, but for now, these little pops of pink hearts definitely bring me joy!
Alright, friends, thanks for going on this Valentine’s Day decor tour with me. If you’ve found any fun decorations this year, let me know in the comments…I’m already starting my wish list for next year!
xoxo
Jennifer
